Norma Jeane Mortenson

Hi girls ,

Today's article is about the most known beauty icon EVER , the lovely gorgeous lady :
Norma Jeane Mortenson

Better known as : Marilyn Monroe.
Born in : Los Angeles , County Hospital
She was born on -27 may 1927

Parents
Her mother : Gladys Pearl Monroe
Her father : Probably Charles Stanley Gifford , but they are not sure if it's true. Marilyn didnt believed it throughtout her whole life.
Both of them worked in a cutting studio called RKO.
Gladys was a drug addict and left Marilyn at her friends called : Albert and Ida Bolender.
Now Ida and Albert had custody over Norma Jean and she lived there till she was seven years old.

One day Gladys suffered from mental breakdowns and ran to Ida's house where she pulled Ida into the garden. She locked the doors so that Ida couldn't get in. Gladys stuffed Norma Jean (that time a baby) in Albert's millitary duffel bag and left the house trough the front door.
Ida chased Gladys because Norma wasnt safe and she managed to grab the bag from Gladys.
Norma Jean fell out the bag and started crying and Ida picked her up and got her inside.

Younger years
Norma Jean did not have a normal childhood.
She went to many foster homes , had a mother who was an addict and had mental breakdowns regularly.

Career / Modeling

During the time that she was married with James Dougherty which was in 1942, she was snapped by photographer David Conover. He encouraged her to apply to The Blue Book Modeling Agency.
She signed in and she was told that the agency was looking for a model with light hair so Norma Jeane dyed her hair blonde.
Norma Jeane became one of the most succesfull models from The Blue Book Modeling agency and she appeared in many magazines. James Dougherty ( who was then in the military ) told Norma Jeane to stop modeling out of jealousy I think. Norma Jeane wasn’t happy cause she saw a carreer in sight so she decided to divorce James.

Studio Contract and Beginnings
Ben Lyon was very interested in Norma Jean and arranged a screen test for her.
Lyon was very satisfied with what he saw and offered her a six month contract with a salary of 125 $ per week. Lyon wasn’t happy with the name Norma Jeane so he chose her stagename which was : Carole Lind. After  a while he decided that he didn’t like that stagename aswell so they started searching for a stagename.  There were variations like Norma Jeane Monroe and Norma Monroe and after a while they chose Jeane Monroe as stagename.
Several months later Lyon STILL wasn’t pleased with the name because there were to many girls with the name Jeane so Lyon suggested Marilyn. So eventually her stagename became : Marilyn Monroe.
